A sure sign of a successful business is the number of successful leaders they’ve groomed. But not all companies recognize the value of implementing a business leadership program and too many of today’s executives are not given the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
Leaders in the fast paced corporate workplace must wear a number of different hats, including that of coach, facilitator and master of decision making and change. They’re also expected to be proactive, anticipating problems instead of waiting till they arise and then reacting to them. It’s a lot to expect of someone without giving them the benefit of a corporate leadership program.
An important aspect in any successful business leadership program is the inclusion of coaching. It’s only through one on one coaching that the individual potential of each participant is uncovered. It helps them stay grounded and focused on making progress one-step at a time. Through this personalized process, weak areas can be determined and strengthened.
The structure of a good business leadership program will include a diverse combination of seminars, training sessions, and courses with focused reading on topics about leadership. Often entry to these programs is by invitation or recommendation from senior management personnel who are able to recognize potential leaders from within the corporation.
A corporate leadership program will seek out participants who show an interest in moving forward in their career, especially those people who have a desire and an interest in progressing to senior management.
